6 Benefits of In Home Newborn Photos | Seattle Newborn Photographer

Life with a new baby can be exciting, overwhelming, and exhausting. Choosing to hire a newborn photographer is a wonderful way to capture a fleeting time in your family’s life. But with your body healing and a new baby having all the needs and needing all the things, you may find that it’s overwhelming to pack up your babe and travel somewhere for photos. If this sounds like you, then consider having lifestyle newborn photos taken in your home. Here are a few of the distinct benefits of staying in for photos.

1) Showcase Baby's New Home

Did you set up a beautiful nursery for your new little love or arrange a sweet space in your room? Maybe you have a rocking chair that was handed down through generations, personalized crib sheets, or the softest play rug. In home photos are the perfect opportunity to showcase your little one's new space with all of the wonderful personal touches that make it fun, comforting, and inviting.

2) You Have All the Things

Maybe this is your first baby, maybe your 4th, either way, babies require a lot of stuff. Diapers, extra clothes, feeding supplies, pacifiers, toys, blankets, and backups of everything in case there is a massive spit up or blowout. When we capture lifestyle photos in your home, you have all the things right where they always are and you don't have to worry about packing it all up and bringing it with you.

3) It's Your Comfort Zone

You just had a baby, perhaps your body is feeling a bit like a war zone or you don't feel like walking more than 10 feet at a time. Having newborn photos taken in your home allows you to have all the creature comforts of being in your own space without needing to go anywhere. It allows you to feel comfortable and relaxed so you can cozy up with your loved ones and enjoy being together on your favorite comfy couch or in your babe's adorable nursery.

4) Older Kids Have a Familiar Playspace

If baby has older siblings, we will take photos of the entire family and photos of all your little ones. But, we'll also take photos of just your newest little love by themselves and with you and/or your partner. Some siblings find this time more enjoyable if they can step away for a few minutes and play. Being in your own home means that older siblings have their own comfortable spaces to retreat to and play while we finish capturing baby.

5) Document Life As It Is Today

In home photos allow us to include documentary style photos. We can take images that show you living life with your new little one. Whether you're preparing a meal or bottles, nursing, changing baby's clothes, or snuggling on the couch, we can document the slow paced savoring of time that comes with the first few weeks of your little one's life. Having these photos taken in your home makes them feel extra personal as they give a glimpse into your daily lives.

6) More Flexibility = Less Stress

With in home lifestyle newborn photos, baby does not need to be asleep in order to be posed for photos. You do not need to worry about getting baby to sleep or keeping baby asleep or timing out your photoshoot with nap time. It not only allows us more flexibility with timing on the day of your photoshoot, but it also allows more flexibility with how old your little love is at the time of your photoshoot. Traditional posed photos work best when baby is under 10-14 days old. While we still want to capture your little one at their littlest, if you're not feeling up to photos in the first two weeks, we can wait a little longer and still get sweet photos of your new cutie and your family.
